PhD Student (f/d/m) in "AI-LIGHTS"-Project

About Us

The Hannover Medical School (MHH), with about 10,000 employees the biggest company of Lower Saxony, is a university institution for research and teaching in the human and dental medicine and a university hospital of supra-maximum medical care. Research, teaching, medical care and administration work hand in hand in the integration model at the MHH-campus.

The Peter L. Reichertz Institute for Medical Informatics (PLRI) is one of the largest university centres for medical informatics in Germany. It belongs to two leading universities, is situated in one of Europe's most research-intensive regions, and offers excellent opportunities for research.

In interdisciplinary projects, the PLRI collaborates with health centres, research institutes, corporations, and public institutions in order to shape the future of the health system and medicine. The activities range from diverse topics on the local level, to regional, national, and global collaborations.

The research group “Clinical Data Science” focuses on the detection of novel routine clinical and -omics biomarkers for disease diagnosis and prognosis to personalize and thus improve patient treatment. To achieve this, we integrate phenotypical information and routine clinical as well as (multi)-omics data by high-dimensional statistics and state-of-the-art artificial intelligence to gain novel insights into underlying disease pathomechanisms. The project “AI-LIGHTS - AI-assisted Long-read Genomics and Integrated OMICs for Healthcare Solution”, an interdisciplinary research consortium funded by the Volkswagen Foundation, aims at improving the diagnosis of rare diseases of critically ill children. We are looking for an enthusiastic PhD student who is interested in enhancing multi-omics data analysis by state-of-the-art artificial intelligence methods within AI-LIGHTS.
