About Us
The Clinical Department of Dental Prosthetics and Biomedical Materials Science (Director Prof. Meike Stiesch) is part of the Center for Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine at MHH. The clinic’s research areas are implant-associated infections, bacterial biofilms, dental stem cells and tissue engineering. The research on implant-associated infections is located at the Lower Saxony Center for Biomedical Technology, Implant Research and Development (NIFE). Here, we are offering a PhD position in the DFG-funded project “Deciphering microbe-material-interactions: Shear force-dependent and time-resolved mechanisms of oral bacterial adhesion to implant surfaces”.
Your Tasks
- Establishment of protocols and measurement of adhesion forces of oral bacteria under shear forces using atomic force microscopy
- Conducting microbiological flow cell experiments and confocal laser-scanning microscopy
- Setup of biophysical and statistical analysis pipeline
- Presentation and publication of results
Your Profile
- Very good completed Master degree in biology, biophysics, microbiology, medical technology or similar
- Very good English communication and writing skills
- Team-oriented personality that is motivated to independently familiarize themselves with new methods and techniques
- Ideally experience in microbiology, atomic force microscopy, confocal laser-scanning microscopy and/or statistics
For application, please provide a letter of motivation, CV and study grade reports within a single pdf file.
We Offer
